Developing Confidence
As people are promoted from peer to supervisor or manager, many new leadership challenges are created. Confidence is especially at risk as organizations navigate the white water of change. This session examines the roles that self-esteem and confidence play in leadership positions. A self-analysis instrument will be used and participants will explore techniques they can use to heighten their self-esteem and increase their level of confidence. When a supervisor or manager has a high level of confidence in his or her leadership ability, that supervisor or manager will demonstrate more patience with employees; have greater problem solving abilities; deal more pro-actively and productively with difficult people; and generally be faced with fewer challenges from employees.
